In my one month long residency in Sefrou. I found men usually sit in cafe all day, doing nothing. There are not enough jobs and opportunities, especially in the rural areas of Morocco. There men barely speak to each other, just staring at the street. (In Moroccan culture, house belongs to women. Usually men are not suppose to stay in the house during the day.) They sit in this 'chair/ box' where they're no space to move and no chance to run away. In our film Darkness, we illustrate the fear, the frustration and the desire to break through this 'box' and to find out where it leads us.
